Welwarts PlayHandball Volunteers Arrive in Utawala Through AYEP Partnership

The final two volunteers of the Welwarts PlayHandball 2025/26 cohort arrived last night, full of energy and ready to begin their journey. Their placement in Utawala marks the completion of this year’s deployment, made possible through a strategic collaboration with the Active Youth Empowerment Project (AYEP).

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to youth development, using sport especially handball as a tool for empowerment, life skills training, and community transformation. The volunteers, enthusiastic and prepared to “hit the road running,” will engage with local youth through structured programs, mentorship, and leadership activities.

Utawala, a vibrant and fast-growing community in Machakos/Nairobi Counties, offers fertile ground for impact. With AYEP’s guidance and PlayHandball’s proven model, the volunteers are poised to contribute meaningfully to the region’s development goals.

Their arrival signals not just the start of a new chapter for the volunteers, but also a deepening of global-local collaboration aimed at equipping young people with resilience, teamwork, and purpose.
